Euroopan ihmisoikeustuomioistuin on julkaissut viisi uutta faktalehtistä. Ne käsittelevät poikkeamismahdollisuutta hätätilassa, elinkautisia rangaistuksia, karkottamista ja elinkautisia rangaistuksia, maineen suojaa ja urheilua.

EIT:n lehdistötiedotteesta:

The European Court of Human Rights recently launched a series of five new factsheets on its caselaw concerning the following themes: derogation in time of emergency, life sentences, extradition and life sentences, protection of reputation, and sport.

Since September 2010 the Court has published on its website about 60 factsheets giving an overview of its case-law on a number of issues, many of which have been translated into German, Italian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Spanish and Turkish with the support in particular of the Governments concerned. Regularly updated, they contain summaries of the main judgments and decisions and also refer to pending cases. They can be viewed and downloaded here.

The factsheets aim to contribute to increasing the awareness of the Court’s judgments among journalists, national authorities and among the public in the Member States of the Council of Europe with a view to improving the implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights at national level. One of the key demands of the current reform plans to increase the effectiveness of the Convention system is for Member States to guarantee the domestic implementation of the Convention and its case-law.
